Paying to Promote Social Media Content Intended to Improve the Lives of People Living with a Psychiatric Disability
The Center for Psychiatric Rehabilitation's mission is, through research and training, to help people living with psychiatric disabilities live meaningful lives. We research and disseminate tools and approaches to help people function in the community and in the valued roles they want, regardless of their psychiatric disability. For example, we develop innovations to improve people’s ability to succeed in meaningful employment. We need to reach people living with this condition, their families, and the systems that help them, with news of researched innovations that could change their life. Social media is a critical way to get this information out.

Donations are applied to expanding the reach of the social media we use, so that more people will learn about these innovations. Donations will be split between social advertising on Meta's Audience Network ($25 -$35 / day) and Google Ads ($15-$25 / day). Our hope is to be able to run a pilot for 100 days, to assess how many more people we can engage via social media, when using paid targeting features and promotion.

Why are donations necessary?
Recently, social media platforms have changed the way they display information, so that unpaid content reaches only a small fraction of a given account’s audience. As such, we have seen discouraging reductions in the number of people reached by our critical content. Help us pilot a new marketing approach that includes paid social and search promotions to increase the reach of the Center’s innovations and their ability to impact the lives of those in need.
